NEW RELEASES ON DVD

AVATAR Eight months after the first home video release here’s another edition of the James Cameron blockbuster, which contains three different cuts — the original theatrical version, a “special edition rerelease” that is 8 minutes longer and a “collector’s extended cut” that adds 16 minutes to the original. Still no 3-D, though. (Fox, Blu-ray, $54.99; standard definition, $34.98; PG-13)
DESPICABLE ME From the French animators Chris Renaud and Pierre Coffin, the story of a supervillain (with the voice of Steve Carell) whose heart is melted by three orphaned girls. (Universal, four-disc 3-D Blu-ray edition, $49.98; three-disc Blu-ray, $39.98; two-disc standard definition, $34.98; standard definition, $29.98; PG)

INCEPTION Leonardo DiCaprio and company race through dreams within dreams within dreams in Christopher Nolan’s intellectually ambitious summer blockbuster. (Warner, two-disc Blu-ray/standard definition combo edition, $35.99; standard definition, $28.98; PG-13)

THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT Julianne Moore and Annette Bening as a lesbian couple whose teenage children go looking for their biological father (Mark Ruffalo). Lisa Cholodenko directed this indie hit. (Universal/Focus, Blue-ray $39.98; standard definition $29.98; R)

THE SECRET OF KELLS A young monk struggles to complete an illuminated manuscript in spite of Viking invasions in this Oscar-nominated animated film directed by Tomm Moore and Nora Twomey. (New Video Group, two-disc Blu-ray/standard definition combo edition, $39.95; standard definition, $29.95; not rated)

TOY STORY 3 With their owner grown up and getting ready for college, the toys face an uncertain future in a dangerous day care center. Lee Unkrich directed this Disney-Pixar production, which is likely to be the highest-grossing film of 2010. The complete “Toy Story Trilogy,” with Blu-ray and standard editions of all three films, is available in a $100 gift box. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: Eclipse The third adaptation from Stephenie Meyer’s vampire cycle finds Bella (Kristen Stewart) forced to choose between her two suitors: a werewolf (Taylor Lautner) and a vampire (Robert Pattinson). David Slade directed. (Summit, two-disc Blu-ray/standard definition combo edition, $40.99; Blu-ray, $34.99; two-disc special edition, $32.99; standard definition, $28.99; PG-13).
